2SLGBTQIA+ Travel

Lanark County 2SLGBTQIA+ History 

2SLGBTQIA+ (TwoSpirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual) people have always existed, in Perth, Lanark County, and across the globe. The organization Queer Connection Lanark has well-documented the history of their organization and recent 2SLGBTQIA+ history. Here are a several highlights:

  • Informal meetings began in for what would become LGBT Lanark County 
  • Advocacy meetings with local politicians and police began
  • In , social events such as dances began to be organized
  • In June of , Mayor John Fenik declared the first Pride Day in Perth (which has been declared annually since!)
  • In , the first LGBT Civitan in the world was created in Lanark County
  • Queer Connection Lanark formed in , building on the work of LGBT Lanark County and LGBT Lanark County Civitan
  • Lanark County's first Pride Parade was held here in Perth in
  • Queer Connection Lanark continues its advocacy work to increase the visibility of the LGBTQ2S+ community

Acceptance Perth LGBT Catholics

Acceptance Perth LGBT Catholics is a fully inclusive and affirming community for LGBTIQA+ Catholics, their families, friends, and allies.

Albany Pride

Albany Pride is a local group offering peer networking and support for people in Albany who identify as LGBTIQ+.

Alcoholics Anonymous Rainbow Group

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who give their experience, strength and verb with each other that they may solve their common challenge and help others to recover from alcoholism.

Bears Perth

A friendly men-only social club for men with body and / or facial hair and their admirers.

Bi+ Community Perth

Safe place for people who are not gay or straight (we use the term ‘bisexual’ as an umbrella term for that) to engage in respectful discussion, connect with people, and form community online. Also regular in person events
