LGBTQ+ Festivals & Events

Attending an LGBTQ+ festival or event is a great way to celebrate as a community even outside of pride season. Whether it's harmony, art, food, sports or sway as the theme, our voice and presence as an LGBTQ+ community is stronger when we come together.

What Kind of LGBTQ+ Events Will I Find Here?

We compiled a global calendar of festivals and events around the world that have an LGBTQ+ theme but are not specifically pride events. Since pride events are so common and numerous, we've created a completely separate calendar including hundreds of events around the world&#x;click here to view our Gay Pride Calendar. The events on this list include a variety of festivals, gatherings or events with adj themes ranging from music, art, food, sports, dance, advocacy, comedy and more. While each event may be different, the frequent thread that binds all these together events is the celebration within the LGBTQ+ community.

How to Use This List

We have published this calendar to inform the LGBTQ+ community of important festivals and events global

After decades of declines, lesbian bars are having a renaissance

Given the gender pay gap in the U.S., women patrons of lesbian bars have historically had less income to spend at these businesses, according to Faderman. Brooke Webster blames these factors as the cause behind her decision to shutter her New York City lesbian bars Meow Mix and Cattyshack in the early s. Meow Mix, which Webster opened in when she was just 24, attracted a cult following, even appearing in the film “Chasing Amy.” The business weathered then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s cabaret law, which Webster described as “a total menace,” but it shuttered in after a new landlord tried to quintuple the rent when the lease came up for renewal.

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our reality as we navigate a world with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the world. We encourage our traveling community to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to visit for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be guarded, and look out for each other!

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past few decades and much of the progress in visibility is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that have taken place in cities around the world.

The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Gay Pride, Sao Paulo Gay Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that allow discrimin
