Mission
The LGBTQIA+ Aging Project works toward equity, inclusion, and community for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual older adults, ensuring that they can age with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Key Commitments:
- Address the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ older adults for inclusive services and community.
- Engage in advocacy efforts to promote equity.
- Work towards policy and practice changes throughout the elder care network.
The LGBTQIA+ Aging Project is the premier resource in New England advocating specifically for LGBTQIA+ older adults. It is the “go to” place for organizations looking for training and technical assistance as well as individuals seeking connection and support. Since , the Aging Project has trained over 10, elder service providers and staff in affirming and culturally competent care, supported development of LGBTQIA+ friendly community meal programs, educated healthcare professionals on the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ older adults, and advanced LGBTQIA+ eq
SAGE is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of older lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) people. SAGE leads in addressing issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning and other self-identifying members of the community (LGBTQ+) aging. In partnership with its constituents and allies, SAGE works to achieve a high quality of life for LGBTQ+ older people, supports and advocates for their rights, fosters a greater understanding of aging in all communities, and promotes positive images of LGBTQ+ life in later years.
