What is Harbour City Bears?
Harbour Metropolis Bears are Sydney&#;s only community group for Bears &#; hairy gay men &#; as adv as our admirers and friends.
We organise more than events each year, including weekly social gatherings, quarterly dance parties, group dinners, and various community outings.
The highlights of our calendar are our two major annual festivals: Bear Essentials and Bear Pride.
We currently have over 1, active members, making us the largest Bear association in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world!
We host a wide range of events throughout the year:
- Festivals: Bear Essentials (held during Sydney&#;s Mardi Gras season) and Bear Pride (in the cooler month of August) These are Australia&#;s most popular gay Bear community festivals, attracting visitors from around the world to celebrate Sydney&#;s vibrant Bear culture.
- Dance parties: Our quarterly Bear Pit parties and the iconic UnderBEAR underwear party during Mardi Gras
- Weekly social meetups: Every Friday night (our party night &#; superb for dancing

When you arrive, make sure you grab a raffle ticket at the front door. Keep an eye out for special themed nights where you can win double tickets for showing up in theme! (Kink, Tradie, Footy shorts etc) Giveaways of Oxford Hotel Bar Tabs every week happen at approximately pm, pm and pm.
We also have a members badge draw each week at 10pm starting at $ and if the member is not there it will jackpot each week until it reaches $ and if that occurs it must be won!
Members Slurp DiscountsA Harbour City Bears committee member will be at the membership desk from 7pmpm for a chat.
One of our rotating DJ&#;s will be on the decks from pm onwards to give you music to get you going.
Every week we&#;ll bring you a relaxed space you can catch up with mates at the bar or on the terrace or upstairs at a Drag show. We also have regular giveaways and much, much more.
We'll admit it, Sydney's swathe of queer venues is not as expansive as it once was. (Get your butt to the Bearded Tit while you can, Redfern's quirky lesbian-owned bar is closing for good before the complete of ; and pour one out for Oxford Street's ARQ, which is looking a lot straighter in its current iteration as 'Aura'.)
But, we've still got some fabulous queer spots to get amongst. From a historical drag palace to subterranean dancefloors, we've got you covered for where to go for a gay ol' time. These LGBTQ+ safe spaces welcome queer punters with open arms, thrilling parties and quiet beers amongst community most nights of the week.
